the only reason i am giving a single star is a lot of the edits were awkward, mulan barely got any lines or convincing character development and the screenplay was SO disappointing. Especially comparing to the classic animated 1998 Mulan film where we saw our protagonist truly torn about who she is and pressured to be as was related by tons of fans of the classic. The emperor portrayed a certain awkwardness and thats not including legit the rest of the film that felt SO cringey like what was with some of the script? The lines were way too on the nose and unrealistic at times. It made it felt less grounded and believable. I also believed that the amazingly talented cast were not fully utilized. With how much I love and related with the animated Mulan movie as an Asian girl growing up, I can't even bring myself to give this a 2 star. Why weren't there more suitable writers for the screenplay?
