Don't bother reading the 5 star reviews. Eventually you'll realise that, after you have seen enough of them, that they parrot each other verbatim and are bots, or at least posted to boost the show's rating. I have personally seen a literal dumpster fire behind a McDonalds, and this show steals the term dumpster fire hands down.
Not even getting into the agenda of the producers and Amazon, this show was cheaply made with shoddy CG, terrible casting and equally terrible acting to go with it, follows the books in only the most rudimentary sense, and commits the worst imaginable sin for any show or movie. It's boring. It is brain shrivelingly dull. I am a huge fan of the books and was willing to look past everything in the sheer excitement of seeing a show that would bring them to life and I fell asleep halfway through the first episode.
If we were to add one final sin to the list, subjective though it may be, the show seemingly consistently strives to break the immersion of the viewer through non-sequiturs, disjointed in universe logic that fails to hold up under any lingering shred of scrutiny, through characters that have been changed to make no sense, and through story elements that are so disjointed that keeping up can be a struggle, not because of any high level plot complexity, but through the sheer bedlam that they through at you all at once in a poor attempt to dazzle the viewer into ignoring what is before their eyes through charlatan cinematography.
