I have finished Shenmue 3 now and i really enjoyed it. Yes they are a few downfalls in small areas people comment on but my for a game that has been away 18yrs and been done on a budget. I think it's fantastic and do believe there will be some new shenmue fans after trying it.
It still will obviously be more for shenmue fans tho.
It feels like shenmue. Plays like shenmue which is great. Every area in the game is full of life and you can interact with almost anything. Ok so maps are not as big as some open world games but they are still large and the game makes you explore all around even off the normal tracks.
All the mini games and arcades really create more fun. You can just get lost in them at times.
The characters dialogue are funny and bad at the same time. Which shenmue has always been known for.
The only disappointing thing in the game is some of the story is stretched in areas and very flat and not as gripping or as thrilling as i expected.
Now on some reviews or comments people state about the frame rate and full hd or 4k support or graphics not the best but honestly I'm old school and I just play games to enjoy them and i have played on the standard ps4 and it looks nice still and plays well to fully enjoy the game.
On the budget it was made it's really outstanding they could get it this good to be honest.
Overall shenmue 3 is a fun, lively packed game with a slightly disappointing story but to say it's been made on a tight budget and Kickstarter funding. It is a very good game and worth a try.
I'd give it a 8 out of 10.
