Paul Ruffalo is given a terrible script, and has an awful accent. The sentimentality of his relationship with his daughter with his patronising tone makes me cringe. The drama isn’t all bad, but the Germans are pretty much all mad Nazis, and it’s all just too stereotypical

Unlike the previous films where the violence was tongue in cheek, and the films had a fun and humorous feel , this new film is over long and gets lost time and again. The violence is more protracted with only the First World War scene having any real dramatic sense. The characters are far more wooden, in particular Gemma Artertons role is over acted and weak. I blame the director, writer for leaving her so characterless. Ralph Fiennes does a great job, but the franchise is lost without the fun and laughs of the previous films
