Canadian soldiers died to make Canada a free country where anybody could immigrate to and have a better life than where they came from. Becoming Canadian means respecting those soldiers that died to give you this opportunity. Don Cherry was right to say what he said. It's not racist in any way shape or form to ask for newcomers to participate in our customs & respect the soldiers that laid down their lives for our freedom. He didn't single out people from any specific region, color, or race. This is the media scapegoating him to push their agenda.
