While I thought the ending was pretty good the rest of the movie was poorly acted and poorly written so could have been better

I am a survivor of emotional and physical abuse from a marriage to an alcoholic. I’ve been through all this to a different degree so I read through some reviews and was really appalled by the one stars. Those people don’t either know a damn thing about abuse and living with or loving an alcoholic, or they don’t care. They’re the exact people that have caused our society to be so pathetic at supporting low-income single parents and survivors of domestic violence. This is a very honest and authentic story. Watch it but only if you’re empathetic and intelligent enough to do so.

Everything about this is sad. Inaccurate history, weird narration with people popping up every two seconds. What happened to just one narrator? I’d personally have preferred the story with dialogue and just a narrator at beginning and in prime points. One narrator. The worst part? It’s all white men speaking for Japanese history. Terrible.
