Across the Spider-verse mini review: I'd actually forgotten this film was out this weekend, but I'm so glad I had some free time. Anyone who didn't see the first film will probably feel a bit lost in the breakneck, nonstop, fast-paced fireworks display of a movie, but for me, it was a ton of fun. Animation proves itself superior to live action once more, capturing the fluidity and kinetic energy of the characters in ways live action can only dream of. The voice cast is top-notch and the soundtrack is 🔥, and the new characters are awesome. I especially loved Issa Rae's Jessica Drew character, a definite scene-stealer! Overall, no complaints other than the unexpected cliffhanger ending. You mean I gotta wait for the conclusion? Fast X mini-review: okay, so you already know the franchise became Blue Collar Avengers around the fifth installment and never looked back. The new film continues that proud tradition with an overly stuffed explosion of superheroics and a villain in Mamoa who thinks he's Ledger Joker but acts like Romero Joker. By the time new characters show up, family gets threatened, the Vatican gets rocked, the globe gets trotted, enemies become allies, doubles get crossed, and the dead get resurrected (!?!), this movie doesn't just jump the shark, it jumps the entire ocean. It's beyond stupid, but at least it's never boring.

Finally got around to seeing this, and it didn't disappoint! Full of nail-biting suspense from start to finish.

Very underrated film. The story might not be all that original, but the cinematography, score, and performances are all top notch. Reminds me a lot of Gattaca.
