This is a Westernized One Piece. I have mixed feelings after watching all episodes. I'm okay with how the story changes but what makes the character should stay in the character.
For example, this version of Luffy is a bit too smart, and too sentimental towards everything especially when Buggy messes with his hat. Luffy should be angered. not holding it and about to cry like a little kid whose toy is broken. Also, Luffy shouting woohoo is quite cringe.
It seems like Westernized Nami has been infected with "Woke Virus" I hope she gets cured later in the series if they have second season.
There is no reason for Nami to be so caring about Zoro in Baratie she should have been more selfish before being saved by her crewmates.
Luffy was seen hurt by Arlong throwing him around in Baratie. How? Did the director forget he is made out of rubber?
Aside from Buggy, we don't get to see Kuro's and Arlong's main move which is... maybe caused by the limited budget?
The part where Arlong needs grand line map does not make sense. The scriptwriter didn't know that Arlong came from the grand line or did they want Arlong to be portrayed as map enthusiast/otaku here?
Overall, the character portrayals are great. it's just that the script is not very good. Some character's personalities and development is not what I expected,
