This is one of the best films there is in sci-fiction genre . absolute class ,its kubrick legacy .and yes it was made in 1968. it`s a trendsetter in hollywood and for filmmaking students this film is a treasure . mostly (with sets built not green screens and graphics) . Its clever ,visually beautiful , makes your brain work , Bottom line this a MASTERPIECE . a must watch for film goers .its not an easy film Though (there is a 2nd part to this film without it you wont understand the greatness of this Film ) for people who are writing this is a boring movie 1. you don`t understand film making 2.you didn`t understand the film 3. you should have gone for an easier film 4. critics are not stupid they are well educated in film aesthetics and film language . if they are lauding there`s a reason for it . 5 There is 2nd part of the film watch that , to understand . This movie is art,its camera work is brilliant , effects are mostly real (they shot it with sets built with out green screens ) that`s the greatness .screenplay is mind numbing .

Not good movie . all that is left to show is humans evolved from transformers . one time watch that too for franchise followers .
