Brady Tiel (brady Tiel)

Refreshing break from the lame Jurassic World movies, but not the best. Considering what could have been I feel like a lot of people walked out the the theatre saying “It would’ve been better if…” It’s very difficult to be invested in Adam Drivers character because there is almost no reason for what transpires. (SPOILERS BELOW). 1.) Why does Adam Drivers people need to leave the planet? 2.) Where are they going? 3.) How was it possible one person survived with no explanation? 4.) Why is everything SO invested in killing Driver and Koa? 5.) How is there not a single non-violent dinosaur on the planet? The list goes on. I totally understand the suspension of disbelief for sci-fi, but with such massively glaring, cliche moments it’s kind of annoying. As cool as the dinosaurs look… Adam Driver is the sole reason this movie will have any success and that’s a real shame considering what could’ve been

As far as Shark movies go, this isn’t the worst. In no way is Uncaged better than the first 47 Meters Down. The film follows a relatively cliche static cast of girls that range from the outcast loner type to the popular “bad girl” type. The Sharks (of which there are 2) look good in design, but fairly campy as CGI models. I don’t know how the sequel managed to get worse in quality? All in all, you can nitpick a lot of this movie, but that said, it’s not trying to be the greatest movie you’ll ever see. It’s one of those films you kick back, grab your popcorn, and bet on who is going to die first and how it’ll happen. The kills are good, the deaths are semi-predictable and the film as a whole is pretty forgettable. If you want good Shark action you’re better off sticking to the first 47 Meters or going back to some classics like Jaws or Deep Blue Sea.

I felt like I was in a time loop watching this movie. Everytime I looked to see if it was almost over it felt like I wasn’t getting any closer to an end. An excessively dark movie, that is fairly predictable and makes you question why you even turned it on. I’m sure the actual short story is leaps and bounds better than this. Definitely wouldn’t watch it a second time. Wished I hadn’t the first. 3/10
