All I have read in Heather’s study, confirms the importance of collecting and preservation of, not just photos and letters from the past, but the more day to day record of women’s lives lived.The receipts and notations and lists, which were never intended to be passed on or studied, can form the most realistic and un-romanticized framework for study and display revealing women’s lives more fully..Their time in historical context , is elevated far beyond what they ever imagined.Items may be beautiful, utilitarian, casually used or discarded, but we benefit as recipients.

This is the kind of book I like my grand daughters to be familiar with. All six ranging in age from eight to twenty one, have to hear more than once, that it is important to identify historical perspective in what they read for example, written in 1910, the year one f their great gran others was born, places the action, before well,and they can examine, comment and adjust their thinking about how life was in a different time.
