I don’t know if I watched the same movie as the rest of you, but I had a tough time relating these characters and scenarios to anyone or anything on “I Love Lucy”. The casting killed it for me from the get-go. Javier Bardem was years to old (and too large physically) to play Desi; he came off like Desi’s father. Desi Arnaz was almost 6 years younger than Lucy, and very trim and energetic. J.K. Simmons: another no. Nicole Kidman was a believable imitation, and Nina Arianda same, but no. The movie as a whole was too staged and flat. There was no dimension or texture, just stilted characters trying very hard to convey a tale. If anything, the stage design was breathtaking! The artwork, the cinematography, all of it was a gorgeous and wonderful distraction from the - other stuff. Enough said.
