I have been watching for a very long time, way before it had celebrities on the show. I learn a lot from the drills and lessons. I feel my husband and I have benefited from watching. However, we are a white married couple. I have noticed that the 2nd season of the hip hop addition points out a lot about the African American race. I am just wondering, if producers know that it is starting to make me feel as a white person that the show is no longer a benefit for my husband and I since it seems to gear toward a specific race. Is that the intent? Honestly I have always felt that Dr. Ish and Judge Tolar are amazing in their fields. Never have I thought of them as a “black” or “African American” judge or dr, until they specifically pointed that out this season.
My question is this, will this show from now on be just about one specific race of people?
I don’t want to continue to feel awkward about watching. I honestly believe the work they do is amazing! I love to see how it affects different people in different dynamics of marriage. I always seem to relate to someone or a couple more than others. It makes me think about how I can improve and what steps to take. I also feel a sense of respect for all those who participate because they allow themselves to be so open and vulnerable in front of the cameras which can not be easy at all. It is hard to do when there is no one watching.
