Toy Story 4 is the sequel we didn’t know we didn’t really needed, and probably could have lived without.
The story was beautifully animated in Pixar’s now well known style, and the storyline was interesting, but unnecessary. The entire movie lacked the emotional connection and the emotional punch of the first and third films in the franchise. The only real emotion I felt watching this movie was at one point creepiness from the Vincent puppets, and fatigue in wanting the movie to end.
The movie did elicit some mild chuckles from the adults in the theater as some jokes were certainly situational and aimed at the adults, but most of the laughter was from the children, so in that aspect the movie did well.
All in all, I would say a solid B-, and a good ending for this franchise, as in the way they end the move, I do not see them making another one.
Do stay for the entire credits, as there are three scenes placed in the credits that are worth seeing, and there is a movie specific Pixar scene at the very end of the credits.
