Loving it. Dysfunctional family, failed relationships, failure and envy, self obsession and a weird stranger. What's not to like. We're hooked!

A beautiful film. The role of Mr Winkle played so eloquently by Edward G Robinson. He has a gentle and intelligent presence. A story of a man stuck in a desk job he gets little pleasure from but who really wants to nourish his soul using his hands by making and repairing things. He is called up by the army as a reserve and given a desk job as he's more 'suited' for it but he persuades them to let him train as a mechanic which requires lots of physical training they think he can't do so he proves them wrong. Like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis, he grows and developes and becomes the man who he is supposed to be. The only mystery is why he married the status ridden cold woman he ended up with although even she gets to see him for who he really is. The little boy he befriends helps her to see the real man.

Just watched this film on Talking Pictures. It's a little gem. A story unfolds as we learn about what happens on one fateful night out. It challenges prejudice, class, young male culture and cleverly applies twists and turns as we discover what actually happened.

Really interesting dark and funny

Mesmerising and beautifully shot with such detail and at times I felt I was watching an early 60s Italian film. Andrew Scott was excellent. He has a still quality and his eyes can convey pure hatred in a split second. All those steps, the peeling plaster, statues, paintings, water ...all of it stunning. I had to ration myself to only two episodes a night on Netflix and now I'm mourning. The acting quality of even the minor actors was superb.

I stuck until episode 2. What a waste of such talented people. I guess I'm not the target audience. Maybe it's aimed at Love Island, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here viewers.

A mix of drama, horror and suspense. Nearly all characters are flawed which obviously made the "who done it" element more gripping

Just binge watched. Emotionally drained. Feeling very nostalgic too as I lived in London in my 20s and 30s. The acting was sublime especially the two leads playing Emma and Dexter.
