Honestly, I thought this movie wasn't that bad. Some of the actors like Rami Malek and Jared Leto did a good job with their characters but in the end this movie leaves much to be desired. SPOILERS: So to start off, I thought the characters were kind of shallow. The actors did their jobs but I think the writers and director could have done more with the characters, character development, and creating a more personal character arc. That being said, there are also missing pieces within the plot that could have been explained. Personally, I thought the plot was sort of confusing at some parts. For example, Denzel Washington's character seemed to have a very strong connection to the murder cases in the plot but it seems like this connection wasn't exactly explained fully. Furthermore, I also thought that the plot points didn't go together well; Joe's (Denzel Washington) plot with the twist that he killed that girl which explains the guilt he has from the murder cases, and Detective Baxter's (Rami Malek) plot trying to catch the murderer. The one plot twist at the end where Detective Baxter kills Sparma (Jared Leto) seemed almost unnecessary since it just happened quickly and then the movie was over and really made no difference. I guess what I'm trying to say is, The Little Things (2021) has shallow characters, confusing plot, and overall it just seemed like any other basic crime thriller. I think I would have liked more it if we knew more about the characters, the plot twists were more connected to the plot, and maybe if Detective Baxter killed Sparma closer to the beginning or we knew about Joe killing that girl earlier on so we could see how they dealt with the guilt and repercussions throughout the movie while trying to solve this case. Its a shame that these great actors weren't able to play well-written characters.
