I’m a huge fan of the books and I was very excited about the new show. I’ve liked Arielle Kebbel and Russell Hornsby in previous shows and I think there’s good potential for them as Amelia and Lincoln. Brian O’Byrne is a good choice for the Bone Collector. I could never understand why in the film version they changed Sachs’ name, nor why Lon’s name has been changed to Mike for this TV show. I love the characters of Thom, Fred and Mel in the books too and I was disappointed not to see them. I’m guessing Felix is supposed to be a version of Mel...and not sure of what I think of Kate instead of having Mel.
I’m disappointed by the lack of focus on the minutiae of the evidence like in the books. And where is walking the grid in the show? The whole premise is how good Lincoln is with evidence and how adamant he is about how a crime scene should be run so there is no contamination from everyone tramping around. Only Amelia walks the grid to get each bit of evidence. The rubber bands on the shoes to differentiate from other footprints found, vacuuming up every trace and specifics on how each different type of evidence is stored, smells, etc. I guess I expected a lot more CSI type of feel to the show and instead it feels thrown together. No gloves or booties are even worn at a crime scene...no focus on why Lincoln is this brilliant master with evidence. Which is the reason everyone puts up with him acting like a jerk. So much potential to be a sharp show. Not sure if I’ll keep on watching. Just hugely disappointed.
