I love kelly Washington soo much, her acting is superb, and it is because of her I started this show, but y’all did my girl dirty with the writing of mia, hated her character. Firstly I have watched this show twice and I can’t figure out exactly why the children burnt the house. From Lexie’s narrative it has something to do with how their mum treated Mia, pearl and Izzy, which is bs, no logical child would burn their house on those grounds. Unless spoilt dumb kids, which is not the case as all of them seem to be pretty smart. And the show never really point that the children feel their mum was maltreating mia or pearl Secondly, why does the series start with Mia breeding so much hate and contempt, she treats Elena like Elena triggers her in some way, which is never explained Thirdly, what’s all the racist stuff, instead of shedding light on racism as the show writers probably planned, it just showed a bunch of black people wanting to play the victim so bad.(and I’m black)(well maybe that’s how 90s blacks were) Lastly, how the show finished with Mia keeping her daughter(daughter still loves her), keeping the rest of her money, running away to another city is beyond me, while Elena lost her house, lost one of her kids and the rest hates her, her husband hates her. When it’s arguable that Mia is clearly the insane one who came to ruin lives, but surprisingly her life goes unscathed. Well that’s why it’s a show and nothing more
