Do NOT be fooled by the age restriction! I was feeling spontaneous and decided to re-watch this movie after many years - and unsurprisingly, it was a nightmarish and spine-chilling experience! I was, once again, harrowed by its deeply eerie and sinister undertones which are disguised with bright colours and "humour". The abhorrent fact is that the story follows a creepy old man with face paint who interferes with the lives of young children and is depicted as a heroic character! The way the baby sitter is handled is a further example of the sheer problematic and inappropriate content. I cannot believe that this movie is made for kids! It is a complete corruption of the original book! I hate this movie with my heart's full capacity. I'm terribly sorry to all the poor, unassuming children (and adults), who have that ugly cat's face show up every time they close their eyes, perpetually haunting their sleep. *(This movie doesn't even deserve the 1 star I was forced to rate it)
