I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be the feel good movie I needed right now. It's essentially a film about a character learning to hope again, and hope is in short supply right now. It also feels oddly aligned with my generation, where a lot of us feel like we're stuck in dead ends. The actual plot concerns Bobby, a middle aged bartender and aspiring graphic artist whose life is quickly going nowhere. He's approached by his best friend about investing his mother life insurance payout in restoring the bowling alley they used to frequent. If this sounds like a predictable movie I can tell you it is, up to a point. But it's characters and overall message carry it and end creating something that feels inspiring.
