As someone who has read the Webtoon, this live action is disappointing. Some of the characters are poorly acted, comedic/cheesy music choices during moments that are supposed to be terrifying, and poor cinematography. The colorful lights, generic music, and superficial writing makes it all seem like an amusement park during Halloween.
Many monsters are revealed in the first episode, taking away a lot of dread and fear of the unknown. The Webtoon author clearly put a lot of thought behind the design of each monster--there are so many unique and unsettling designs in the Webtoon. To have them be reduced to the likes of a chainsaw-wielding zombie is just sad. This was clearly created by someone who does not have much experience with the horror genre. The ending song is great, though.
What's really surprising to me is that this is rated so highly. Maybe it's better for those who did not read the Webtoon.
