The authors do not know that the word corruption is appropriate for dishonest misconduct in public hospitals only. The authors wanted to win accolades by giving what may be lauded as info from the horse's mouth. The fact remains that the large portion of healthcare service is provided by small and medium hospitals in India which are run by self-employed single and couple doctors. The book seeks to widen the trust deficit between doctor and public, by generalising the isolated instances of professional misconduct, Anretya Sen rightly pointed out in foreword that main cause fo abject healthcare in India is low spending on healthcare by successive regimes and beauracrats have to do some explaining on this , one of them is leading co-author in this book, Instead of dilating further on this point , it has been just mentioned once in the introduction and then played down.
