What a stunningly done movie! Basil Joseph does it again. Another beautiful work gets added to the list of fine projects that this young Indian film maker has been coming with in the past few years. Minnal Murali very much stems from the arc of the several international superhero movies that we have been watching for decades. Yet it stands out. For its freshness, for its simplicity, for its clean storytelling. And might I add the visual effects used too. India has a fabulous set of actually skilled post-work artists, but somehow we have been falling short or leaving room for errors or producing over the top physics law-breaking scenes only. But this one was simple. Neat and cleanly executed considering the premise of the story and the available budget too. Tovino Thomas is a wonderful actor. He always manages to bring in this, relatable next door guy-vibe to his characters. And I loved the growth of his character in this film. I have not seen any movie of Mr Guru Somasundaram. But boy oh boy! He was an absolute delight to watch playing his character Shibu. I know we do not have to be hung up on superhero films only. But I think it's safe to say that we are finally learning to make a mark in the superhero storytelling space. And "Minnal Murali" is definitely a good, acceptable, lovable superhero from India that we could sing praises of :)

It could have been such a beautiful movie!! But, What a waste of such a good cast! Especially with Nasim Pedrad & Lamorne Morris, they are fabulous actors. They have effortless chemistry. Yet, none of it was made use of. The movie was just weirdly played out all together. It is so weak. The female lead flashing in front of a kid unintentionally, landing in front of him in compromising positions again & again over & over. Why? That was just preposterous & not funny at all. Nasim plays her superbly flawed character beautifully, but what was the need to be gone, so overboard with it? & Lamorne's ever so grieving character?? C'mon, give the man some credit for being a steady minded, sane person. Super dissapointed, had A LOT of expectations from it. The film literally has a beautiful cast. Their characters deserved better characterization. The jokes definitely should have been better. I know, it's easy to be on the other side of the screen & just leave a comment. Coz film making is a serious, serious work. Exactly hence the important time of the cast & crew involved in the movie should have been respected better. There was clearly a lot of efforts put in. So why was it executed so poorly? The film falls so flat, so bad. This was just heartbreaking. I watched the film for Nasim Pedrad & Lamorne Morris, because I absolutely love those artistes. It could have been a really, really good film.
