I love the Coen brothers and their unique blend of dark humour and extreme violence, but for whatever reason they seem to fall short on this film and really miss the mark for me.
All the hallmarks of a great Coen film are there, the incredible cinematography, the tight and creative writing, the fun and unique characters, excellent visual storytelling and a world that sometimes seems a bit unfair at times with the good guy not always winning. But none of the stories come together to create a cohesive film. If each of the individual 6 stories had been fully explored in depth or if they were interconnected in some way, I might have gotten more enjoyment out of this film. However, none of these stories connects in any way besides the fact that someone always dies in them.
I would have loved this film if the stories were connected in anyway at all but as it stands the film is just a loose collection of strands that have the potential to become incredible stand-alone stories but instead they just end and skip onto the next tale.
