I loved the way the writer painted the trauma and fear during the Nazi take over in Poland.
I absolutely hated when the next chapter was about Alice, a modern woman, the granddaughter of the main story teller. We get it your child is "on the spectrum" . EVERY sentence is about how tough it is to raise a child who can't communicate. She whined so much.
But then we get back to the past and the story just takes you for an emotional ride.
