I enjoyed it a lot. The focus was on the horrors of war. Specifically focusing on a young correspondents desire to make something of herself, by hanging on to the tails of an industry veteran. Of whom shows brash care for the young upstart. Knowing that venturing down this path exposes you to a life that is far less glamorous or more a harmful reminder of all that you've captured.
If you look at how the territories are broken up, succession states and rebel factions geographically make no sense to current politics. My hypothesis is that they chose to keep a neutral stance in their dystopian United States. It seems all walks of life are represented in competing factions. We are unsure if they are representative of any current political or social group. Some may akin the president to that of Trump, but to me he seems more generic. Just an older white dude with slick back hair and arrogance. Which seems more like an amalgam of presidents throughout our history.
I know our nation is divided. I know many people are angry and feel unheard. No matter your race, social group, economic status or political thought process, many feel unheard and backed into some sort of corner right now.
However if one thing can be learned from this movie, dividing us to a point where the United States looks at each other as enemies will result in the loss of the very thing we enjoy as free citizens. What we love so deeply about this country will be lost in hatred and be so far from the lives we are used to living. So ask yourself, is that worth it? Or should we find compromise in all that we desire? No matter where we are from or what we believe, we are Americans first.
