I would rate a 3.5 out of 5 . One I think they waited too late, as much as they try to cover up her age, it was apparent she wasn't a child. I think alot of space filler was used with the asylum, yes it had its jumpy moments but it didnt really bring anything to it but "really 🙄 like you didn't see that coming. What they excuted well like it's predecessor was, a GREAT plot twist that you didn't see coming! Seriously you're on autopilot and you're like damn.. I'm up now. I dont feel this cast energy and connection was as strong as the first one but it's definitely worth a watch. I saw it through Paramount Plus, would I get dolled up spend a bunch of money at the movies, no, curl up on my couch and watch from the comforts of my house, yes!

This film.. *sigh* as my mind tries to stop spinning  from a LONG exhausted ride. There are some hits and misses from this film, Zendaya  definitely  shows us her transition  from Disney to adulthood ; she was sexy, vulnerable and witty . John's  character Malcom was definitely  "the monster" cruel, callous narcissistic wrapped tightly in intellect. I have no problem  with the black and white cinematography, nor the entire film being shot at one location  or even little costume  change . My issue however  is the characters soliloquies especially  of the character  Malcom, his long narracistic rants were at moments  cringe worthy and just plain EXHAUSTING! I respect trying to go another angle instead of the cliche "hood" or  "urban" fights that has become accustomed  for black films but I feel like it was such a desperate  attempt to show Malcom was intellectual it left the viewer  like "OK we get it,he's smart! The snippet of sexual moments  was most certainly HOT but unnecessary  and felt kind of thrown  in instead of natural. I felt too much time was given pushing the flaws of the relationship instead of building  and allowing  the viewer to see the upside  of the relationship. Honestly  just based off the hurtful words exchanged between  characters I don't understand  why they are together are even able to sleep in the same bed! As a woman if you say you don't connect when Zendaya's character  Marie does her final soliloquy simply saying all she wanted  was a simple acknowledgment, thank you and genuine apology something is wrong. I believe this film had serious potential but falls a little short.  I rate a C+
