The book series is very good, and the TV series follows fairly closely.
Peter Dinklage alone is worth the time to watch this. His portrayal of a small tormented man who grows to fill a large space is at least as good as if not better than any actor I have ever seen. The other pretty tall people fade into the background.
It's a rough and brutal story. If you have the stomach for it, I highly recommend it.
