As a Christian, I thought I would test the waters and watch the first episode. I could always turn it off. Im gun-shy because of the fact that majority of Christian-themed shows coming out of Hollywood portray Christians in an extremely bad light - they are portrayed as either dumb, hateful or extremists. I was drawn into it though and wound up binging the series that day. The whole time I was watching I was thinking “Pleeeease don’t get political” or “please let there be some goodness to this” or “please portray some honest-to-God true-life good Christians and not just weirdos”. I really didn’t want him to be a con man. There were a few uncomfortable parts to it where it did get political and weird parts where there was no purpose to certain scenes and there of course were the stereotypical Strange Christian fanatics. But i have to say that it did make me think and wonder if Jesus were here today, how would we receive him. I feel it might have come close. Of course nobody will be able to predict what would happen that day, but I believe it would be a mixed response like the show portrays. That there will be people trying to explain-away the miracles and trying to prove him a con-man to make themselves feel better about themselves. I did like how it kept you guessing until the end and I felt the actor was Very good although at times I would have preferred to see a more positive and loving side. The fact that I am still thinking about it today is testament to how good of a show it is.
