Being a fan of Captain Marvel since 2010, back when she was still clad in a tight spandex onesie, I was not disappointed in my girl. She was every bit as awesome as she could've been, although maybe a little overpowered and Mary-Sue like at times, but that didn't bother me. Brie Larson does a fantastic job here, her Carol being an arrogant pilot full of nuance (and at times an okay Robert Downey Jr. impersonation) who can kick so much butt no matter the gender and it's awesome.
The supporting cast is AMAZING, with the highlights being Sam L. Jackson, Lashawna Lynch, Ben Mendelsohn, and Goose (the cat). The scenes with the skrulls are everything I hoped they would be and more (so twisty) and Secret Invasion really could deliver something special in the MCU if Feige ever decides to go that route.
I am very excited for a sequel and even more excited to see her team up with the Avengers in Endgame. Don't let me get your hopes up too high though, because this is not another Ragnarok or Winter Soldier for the MCU, but more of a mediocre entry, alongside the other origin stories (it's a bit slow at times but easy to soak up).
Given a bit of time, Brie Larson will find her footing the role, just like her predecessors before her (looking at you, Hemsworth), and she just needs a chance to do so.
