Man, I just finished the extremely controversial Netflix movie “Blonde,” the fictional movie about Marilyn Monroe based on the book by Joyce Carol Oates. The first thing I have to say is if Ana De Armas doesn’t win the Academy Award for Best Actress in a leading role, I’ll be surprised. She was mesmerizing. The next thing I wanted to say is I heard SO MANY STORIES from people saying they had to turn the movie off after 20 minutes because of a rape scene, it was devastating, there was a horrible abortion scene…
Look, this is NOT a happy story. This is a story about a poor little girl who was born into a horrible situation and used the only thing she had, her sexuality, to make a living. Good God, if you can believe the “fictional” story, her own mother tried to kill her by drowning her in their bathtub when she was a young child.
Is this movie for everyone? Hell, no. Some will be offended. And I understand that, I really do.
I just find it heartbreaking. On so many counts. And she died at the age of 36.
Talk about the ultimate heartbreak, her mom, who was institutionalized, outlived her by more than 15 years.
PLEASE watch it, and make your own conclusions.
