I gotta be the first (and so far only) one to put down 3 stars!
First the show is funny. The characters are all well developed and acted. They are all imperfect and wrapped up in their own despicable worlds. Yet we like and root for even Matt Leblanc to get beyond his “last” show, Friends.
But the series falls flat in the wake of MeToo. We are supposed to root for Merc while he cheats on his blind wife with his employee? Yet I feel like the premise of the show asks us to root for all of them, as we did for the Seinfeld cast (or for Larry in Curb!) I just can’t watch that story line (I’m up to season 2) without feeling pretty grossed out about it.
