If it even it made it to the precipice, it most certainly didn't dive deep. At least Dakota Fanning performed well, that was worth watching.

Exquisite visual imagery for the most disturbed parts of your mind.

I like when cinematography rolls across the screen like spilled honey and storyline relies on anamorphic delivery. This series is one of the few times actors can look directly into the camera and not completely destroy my suspension of disbelief. I felt complicit, allied, or provoked instead of perturbed. Dark, supernatural and edging on horror, with ancient themes delivered in a palatable manner. And the squealing! What a deliciously disturbing touch.

Spoiler. Vague concepts from ninth grade literature's the Most Dangerous Game tickled at the edge of my mind when served the first death. Less intense than Squid Games, and more sophisticated than Glass Onion, it was just the sort of dark comedy horror I needed on a weeknight. Even the corny ending felt in line with the genre, but I do wish the last part of the movie could have been less rushed. I would have gladly spent more than two hours with this one.

Predictable excellence, it's not always bad to know what will happen.

You need to appreciate slow storytelling and nostalgic cinematography, both of which I do. Mix it with a touch of supernatural or paranormal and I'm glued. My friend likes to describe these kind of films as flypaper movies. Not like the film by that name, but like being trapped in dangling amber curls of stickiness. Film reception, for me, always depends on mood. The mood was right.

I hate Westerns, but this was mesmerizing and worth every ounce of patience. I couldn't get enough, and scenes absent dialog said more than any words could. No spoiler, just watch it. All of it.

Enigmatic. A treat to watch Jack Dylan Grazer's quirky character, and though the end was predictable, the journey was well worth it. I was hooked in the first few episodes when it was still strange and mysterious, had to see it through.
