***Spoiler Alert***
To truly enjoy this movie, one must suspend their expectations of a modern ninja movie. For example, modern weapons like guns are the Ninja's great weakness in combat. If you've seen Ninja Assassins, the movie does a great job in showing how guns can easily overcome Ninjas, but Ninjas can beat gun users in the right environment (dark, lots of places to hide).
This movie completely ignores that by conveniently making the bad guys use swords for no reason whatsoever when they had access to rifles right in front of them. Oh, but the movie realized this and attempted to dispel the illogicalness by introducing a few scenes where the one or two Yakuzas attempted to draw a gun but was overpowered before they could do so. Nice try.
Another illogical plot: The main villain's ultimate goal was to destroy the clan by smuggling modern weapons into Japan. Spoiler: not one gun was used against the clan. The Yakuza boss forced his minions to use swords??
