First rule of any movie, TV show, play, etc... Establish the story and the characters and make us care. Quick. Good writing does that. Big fan of Jeff Daniels. He's the sole reason I tuned in. Made it thru 15 minutes of episode 2. Not funny and they broke rule number 1. Had no clear idea what the hell was happening and knew by then I absolutely didn't care. Shame. Was nice to see Daniels chew some scenery in a great Al Pacino-like way. But not enough to suffer thru the instantly forgettable supporting performances and completely uninteresting story and characters. Pass.

I gave this movie about 20 minutes. Since it’s only 90 minutes long that was enough of “Act One” to either hook me or not. It sounded like such an intriguing plot. I love Sci Fi movies like this typically. But for the love of God, you need decent writing, and a leading character you invest in. This film had neither. And once we got into a possible religious angle I was done. If this movie had a point it failed to tell the audience what it was. And I’m sorry, Ms. Rodriguez has zero gravitas and screen presence. In this role anyway. Thumbs down, Netflix.

As an avid West Wing / Newsroom fan I expected to hate The Morning Show. In fact I only watched episode 1 because my wife loves Jennifer Aniston. (I’m like the only person on earth who didn’t care for Friends). Anyway, I can’t believe how much I’m enjoying this show, it’s arc, it’s incredible take on #metoo (showing both sides), and the characters. All of them are giving fantastic performances and personally I hope Ms. Aniston never does comedy again. She’s found her footing as a fine dramatic actress. Aaron Sorkin it’s not. Brilliant it’s not. But not only is it wildly entertaining and very well produced, several episodes have been “watercooler” conversation for me the day after. (And I don’t work in an office). I’m pleased to find a show about show biz so well executed. I look forward to many more.
