The series starts with a terrific opening segment and a great mystery but rapidly devolves with the insertion of unfunny supposedly comedic scenes, implausible plot lines and an over abundance of doofus characters that steals the momentum that should have been central to this story if we are to believe that the main character is desperate to understand his strange situation. No chemistry between the male and female leads. The probationary cons table and her fiancé were unwatchable. The nasty yank and his sawn off shotgun scene was just lame. Switched off this rubbish after episode 3. Dornan tried hard but this was abysmal … I didn’t care two hoots for his character or any of the characters for that matter. Too many quirky and slapstick characters spoilt what should have been a thriller/mystery. Great premise, great film locations, average acting, poor script, no tension and wavering focus.

Premise was sound but way too many loose ends and plot lines resulting in an underwhelming viewing experience for me. I resent the people saying those who rated the film low don’t know what they’re talking about and don’t have brains enough to ‘understand’ the finer detail ... several plots are introduced that do not go anywhere so are a waste of time. I undrerstood the ending but wasn’t convinced by it or the poor production. The actors were all okay. Amanda was the clear standout. Did not care about the characters, was not kept in suspense, although curious about how it would play out, cliche killing of would-be witnesses, unexplained relationship of the husband to the cousin, Katherine sleeping with the lad ... The only surprise was what happened to Katherine. I get the ending but it wont satisfy a lot of viewers who usually like to see the bad guy get theirs. I thought the writing was good - and one line .... when will the women of this house get justice ... set the ending up to fail in my opinion. The idea that the more of them who die there will strengthen them in spirit seems negatively twisted. Anyway, I was mildly interested but ultimately disappointed. Shrugged my shoulders at the end and said, ‘that’s it?’ Potential not realised.
