Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always

Don't waste your time on this one. I am a 90s kid who grew up watching and playing PRMM EVERY SINGLE DAY of my childhood. My cousins and I used to watch it and play for hours. I went in not knowing that 4/6 of the original cast was going to be missing. I understood that killing off Trini was a necessity there was nothing to do there. However, Kimberly, Tommy and Jason as well?! COME ON! If you want to call a movie a "true 90s nostalgia" then CALL THE ORIGINAL CAST! Not the replacements whom I hated back in 1996 and I absolutely detested in this new movie. I took a deep breath with Fullwr House without Michelle and it ended up being an amazing series but that was 1 character. Here we are talking about 4! And they thought they were "so clever" by eliminating them 12 mins into the movie PLEASE! Worst movie ever, total waste of money and time. Only good part was the ending tribute to the true MMPR.

***SPOILERS AHEAD*** The show is AMAZING is well written, funny, dramatic and romantic. It engages the viewer from the first shot until probably the last 2 episodes (Episode 19 and 20). The whole series they keep telling you Samjang is destined to die to safe the world and sacrifice herself. However, a couple of episodes before the finale they reveal that she has to die at the hand of "her protector" aka Son-Ogong (which would have also sucked). Her fate is to die and she accepts it? Why? Not only that but she was supposed to die in a more heroic way which would have made me less upset with the ending but she is sacrificed for nothing only so that Ogong can have his glorious moment (which was not even well developed). The CGI dragon was a bit of a dissapointment but more than that the whole battle is in a single spot, with two swings of a sword the greatest evil the world has ever seen (for which they killed Jin) was gone, POOF, just like that. Also, the last episode goes by with just memories from the series, not only I was pretty upset that they killed off (and yes I know this is a written book) BUT they should have honestly given them the chance to be together. The Spiritual Realm made them suffer enough truly defying her "fate" would have been not to die and to find a way, maybe use her new powers for instance? Samjang started developing stronger powers for the last 4 episodes could she not have fought Dae-sung? Really? Then they give us the hope that Ogong was going to look for her in the Underworld but the show was not renewed so you will have to use your imagination on that one. The viewers will always have a hard time letting go of their beloved characters but making it such a useless and worthless death is what really throws you off the cliff with this show.

This series is an original adaptation. Parents out there are enraged by the "sex" talk and "menstruation"? People please! The books clearly start with a 13 year old! At 13 you are going through everything these girls are going through. Boys, school, growing up, sexual development, kiss talk. This is NORMAL and if you find it so scandalous then you are the problem. Your children will go through life without being able to talk to you about their first kiss or crush simply because it scares you? This show is whimsical, original and a beautiful version of a written book. It touches modern subjects that for sure existed but were never mentioned before. It explores different points and the performances are outstanding. I never take the time to write reviews but this show deserves it. And it surely deserves more than 3 seasons and a rushed ending. Both Netflix and CBC should reconsider bringing it back for there are at least 5000 people who have signed a petition for you to do so.
