Not your usual horror/thriller, but unnerving nonetheless. Starting as a film which satirizes the pretentious and shallow world of art and criticism, the movie takes a turn when the paintings begin to take life (in more ways than one). The movie starts a bit slow, but picks up shortly as the mystery unfolds. Jake Gyllenhaal is excellent as Morf, an influential art critic who becomes consumed in the art which is consuming all those around him. Not a typical 21st century horror film, but rather reminds me of a 1970s-80s take on the genre.
