I loved this book. Rich with history of industrial working class Footscray, the horrors of both living and working in aged care residences and the long long Victorian lock down it also posits possibilities for a future. The book travels through the lives of women as it tells it's tale, in a way that feels very authentic. Highly recommended.

Wonderful book in all senses of that word. Almost tragic but not. Definitely not. The character of Klara is beautifully depicted and never feels anything but real. Though she was manufactured her character was not. A gentle exploration of the human experience and the nature of love. Read it.
