Why is this drama even called Red Eye - it takes place on a long-haul flight to Beijing? I know it's a catchy title but it bears no relation to the plot. Ah - the holey plot - full of implausible scenarios and even the wrong kind of custard tarts in Ep.1 (Hana - the DC - brings her Chinese father's 'favourite' custard tarts from a Chinatown cake shop but they're Portuguese not Chinese tarts. How I hate poor continuity.) The poor vegan who oddly forgot to pre-book his in-flight meals (unless he'd just decided to become vegan!) dies in the aisle - Matt (the 'suspect') only bothers to shock him with the defib one time. Then they leave his body shrouded in a blanket in front of his seat - just in front of the woman with the dog! So the other passengers will see his corpse every time they visit the loo. The 'research doctors' from the cardio conference apparently don't know any basic first aid. Matt manages to stagger, wounded and drugged from a nightclub, locate his car right outside and zoom away in the pouring rain ... mind you, he did crash! And why does Lesley Sharp's character (Delaney) need to be having an extra-marital affair just because her husband appears to be on his deathbed? It adds nothing to the story. It is very good to see some British/Chinese actors on TV for a change and I'll probably keep watching and wait for the snakes to turn up - or just the one that's hiding in the hold but the ITV drama department do need to up their game.
