It was necessary for this movie to send off an old generation and bring in a new one. This episode does this well and the new acts are very good. There was a lot of empathy for all the characters and droids. There is a nod to all the other creatures in the series, without going overboard on the teddy bears and other children's characters. This is a movie for the adults, with some cheeky looks. Overall I was thrilled that the story dealt with the dark side and the ethical threat it poses, definitely a return to the original formula. I would look forward to the 10th episode if it has the same impact. 10/10.
