I get that trying to re-create the magic of a show that’s been off the air for 6 years can be tough. Even tougher when considering the aging of some of the actors and putting them back in the original timeline. Consider Jesse Plemons. As cast in El Camino, he appears almost unrecognizable, having gained maybe 30 pounds and seemingly aged 15 or so years. It wasn’t remotely believable.
Paul gave a spirited performance by there were simply too many scenes that were either dragged out or completely unnecessary. And I’m supposed to believe that the vacuum cleaner guy would really stiff Jesse because he was $1,800 short on a $250,000 bill? This is not a movie that will tarnish the series but it really never needed to be made in the first place. Overall grade is a C-.
