Kudos for trying something different than normal horror movies of witchcraft, spirits. Yeah! It's a zombie series and it is breathtaking only for those who have not experienced zombie movies like Train to Busan, I am legend etc.
So let's come to story.
Plot - Zombies have brains and it is controlled by a spirit Colonel who is desperate, greedy, brutal and can go to any limits but would not break his pinky promise. Akhir choro ke bhi usool hai bhayi!
Mix of liberal, naxal, Pakistan jaao slogan which was not clear if the writer is left winged or right winged but till the end, it becomes clear. Kudos to what you did there!
Writer also touched upon a man's greed which fetches him some more time on the screen. Writer has also brought up 'How girl child are rejected in India' even today. Kudos to that too.
The engineer brain has been brought up just for one scene and then wooosh, it was nowhere found before or after that scene. Sad!
Deaths are pretty predictable like in all horror movies. And you can't expect more from any horror movie because it's not game of thrones! Village girl is savage but her language bothers me as she speaks normal hindi once.
Ending is the worst. Disappointment.
Story - It was a good story. 3/5 stars for the story. The story had a grip that's why we finished it or else one would have just left in the middle.
Originality - 3/5 Yep! Pretty good.
Characters- We can see who is the villain and who is the hero/antihero. But no strong hold of any character in the story. The grip was missing. We could see depth just in the main lead, rest characters were just there.
Acting - It was good.
Predictability- Sometimes it was predictable and other times the scenes were unclear enough to leave us wondering what is happening.
Dialogues - 0.5/5 No significant dialogues. Just three four dialogues which was just to get cheers from the audience (quite visible) Strong language with MC, BC the only two gaalis I could hear. No experimentation in gaalis too. Yeah sad!
Screenplay- 1.5/5 Trust me these stars are good enough for a series this slow.
Pacing - Slow! 4 episodes were not necessary. One 2 hour movie with songs would have been sufficed.
Background score - 3.5 for horror genre.
Pointless conversations and emotions- yep many! Like Akbar having conversation with his zombie brother!
Message - 5/5 Become a soldier but have a sense of what is right and wrong. Don't become a puppet in the hands of the powerful.
This series has set standard in horror genre in India ofcourse!!
I hope directors/producers/storytellers bring better products in this market.
