Love Helen Miren to bits, in everything. Even in this series, her acting is flawless. But! the age difference between the real historic character, at the time we are introduced to her reign, and the real age of the actress made my skin crawl a bit, especially with the more “passionate” scences. And NOT because an older woman cannot have a much younger lover... but because the Catherine- Potemkin love story is well known and kind of ruined those idelistic and romantic notions I held dear.
