This review will most likely cover all of the things others have talked about. ILCA did this project in Unity, so there should be no excuse for why the game is so bad. First of all, remakes are meant to be remade to the current art style, which is......Sword and Shield. However, the characters ended up looking as deformed chibis with a design that I could have drawn in 2nd grade. Even in the cut scenes, I can't feel any nostalgia since the characters don't look human. Another problem I have with the game is the fact that it is $60. To put this into perspective, other games that were 60$ were Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild, which included days of content and was filled with new surprises. In comparison, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl lacked content, but Gamefreak still tried to place them at 60$. Suppose they had decided to put it at 20$. In that case, the lack of content might have been forgiven, but rather the 60$ price tag by an outsourced company that did a lackluster job only looks like a cash grab. Finally, the main problem is that there is no platinum content, no national dex(beyond gen 4), glitches, weird camera angles, and no turning off exp share. The only thing that I would want to see in 3d, as did many other gen 4 fans, was the distortion world, one of the most memorable things of all the gen 4 games. However, even though ILCA already had the storyline and content, they still failed to design platinum content. In addition, they made the game SO easy. I understand that Nintendo is a company for children. Still, even my 1-year-old niece could beat the game if his pokemon was lv 40 when versing a level 30 gym. There are some positive things in the game, like the updated underground and the water and other elements. However, these are all extra and do not improve the content, style, or nostalgia. I rated this game a 1 star because Nintendo games have been made with less and less care lately. I want to tell Nintendo that they can't expect their Nintendo fanbase to be happy with their games when they don't put any effort into them and make them a cash grab. Do not buy this game if you want to experience gen 4. Buy platinum instead.
