I like the show. I just don't understand how these girls are allowed to verbally abuse the staff constantly and get away with it without hardly any consequences. There should be at least some sort of zero tolerance for that kind of behavior. Nothing happened to them when they refused to comply. Nothing in any of these episodes showed me any proof that they were being punished for their crimes on the outside or for blatant verbal abuse of staff on the inside.
Why did none of the guards comment about the verbal abuse? I don't know if this is just camera drama or not. Most of the episodes I've noticed that the Warden plays favorites. Instead of punishment, he let many of the girls off easily. The Warden and few other staff made every excuse under the sun for why these girls acted out. I don't recall any episodes yet where there has been any punishment resulting from staff abuse. It blows my mind that the Warden does nothing to check the attitudes other than meaningless threats. How were these girls taught any sort of lesson?
The guards are not innocent either. They stand by and watch these girls cuss at each other, cuss at them, disrespect them to their faces and allowed constant bullying to go on. They do nothing to stop it. I don't even see how the program helps change them in any sort of way to prevent any repeat of what they did to land themselves in there in the first place. Maybe I need to go watch Season 1 to see if anything is different. I understand many of them have had rough lives. Plenty of people in their same shoes that went a totally different direction.
