In listening to the first movement of Edgar Meyer's Violin Concerto, I am reminded of Copland's purity and Vaughan Williams majestic textures. This concerto refreshes the soul like a good walk in the woods. Hilary Hahn's violin is delicate, subtle and brilliant, like a jewel glowing in the dark. Hard to believe she was only 21 when this recording was released.
