Movie was so much better than previous live actions. Happy they finally got someone who could actually sing! :) Saw kids in the theatre who were so into it and genuinely laughed.

I really wanted to like this show because of all the good reviews I’ve heard. Yet I simply could not overlook the black character who wanted to take over “Mom” position. Highly disappointed by the way she was portrayed. Might just be me but I can’t help but feel her features were purposely overly exaggerated to fit the stereotypical image of a black woman. I understand anime is known for its exaggerations of human characteristics but as a woman of color this one just doesn’t feel right. Really hard to enjoy the show with her in it. If you’re gonna make your black characters look like that you might as well just not use them at all.
