Extremely moving, a masterpiece of creation. I felt the very heart and soul of the people most closely involved in its creation. The objective of bringing together representatives of such distinct groups - professional musicians, indigenous writers and musicians, the residents of the communities visited, was an inspired concept. The film tells the story in a sensitive and authentic way.
I was particularly moved by the emotion, the sincerity of the Indigenous members who spoke of their individual experiences, the route taken to bring them to this place: the Inuit women who spoke of the challenges they faced...to sing, to throat-sing, to play that wonderful drum; Florent Volant , so strong and moving,, the tears that came to my eyes with the fiddler playing St-Anne's reel, the immense emotion with the opening phrases of the Beethoven piece ....And through out it all the sincerity, the dedication , of Kent Nagano as he brought it all to pass. Wonderful, wonderful... I hope that this project will lead to others.
