SPOILER WARNING!
A DETAILED REVIEW ON HOW COULD HAVE THE SERIES ENDED + THE NOT OKAY PART IN THEIR HONEYMOON
So I have recently finished Bridgerton and I must say that it is really good that I had to binge-watched it until the morning.
In the first half I find it really exciting and it keeps me on my toes about how the characters are perfect for each other and they made me "kilig" all the time. All of the sex scenes is just chef's kiss! 🖐️😩
However, in the last half I'm not really satisfied how it ended though it's really thrilling and unraveling.
I would like to address the scene from their honeymoon wherein Daphne had her suspicion about Simon's not wanting to give her a child. Since all of their sex scenes, Simon always release outside of her and at first she doesn't have any knowledge about things like this, that's why she didn't know why did Simon always do that. So she want to test her suspicion while they were having sex so she kinda forced him to release inside her... I have a strong reaction for that scene... I think what she did was not right. Although Simon is clearly at fault too for not clearing it up and explaining to her about it before their marriage but it doesn't mean she had the right to do that...
So after the honeymoon scene, I was having a mixed feeling whether to continue watching. I think they kinda rushed the whole plot since they did not really give Simon a depth of his perspective about this matter. I think it would have been better if they just end the series with the part of their wedding up until the honeymoon when they were expressing their feelings to each other. Or maybe they shouldn't have made them to have children at all. Or maybe if they give Simon more time or more scenes about how he slowly realized by himself that he wants a child too that would have been better instead of kinda being convinced by daphne's choice.
Don't get me wrong, I really love how strong and how Daphne empowered women in the series. However, the only thing that I don't like about her, as someone who is decided not to have children in the future I'm quite displeased on how she subtly try to convinced Simon to have one. It's very tiring for people who doesn't want to have a child to hear those things like " You will change your mind." "You will never know the joy of having a children." Though she didn't explicitly said it, I was having that kind of feeling. What I don't like about Simon at one part is he kinda left her blindsided about not wanting to give her a child. He did not clarify to her that "he doesn't want to" instead, he just said "he can't". So Daphne has been very understanding to him and accepted him for the fact that she thought he is infertile but all along he just didn't really want to.
I don't like how they end the series with Simon being convinced by Daphne to stay and later on they had a child. Maybe it's just me but I don't want to beg or convince for someone to stay. If they really want to stay, they would. It's like they are proving what other people say is right, that you will change your mind about having children. Because you see, Simon has set his mind for a long time to not have children but then suddenly an "exceptional girl" has changed his mind... That's very cliché for me.
All in all, it's a very good series for me y'all should definitely watch. Especially, I definitely love how they constantly speak out how the women are treated back then.
